4 eggs
1 cup sugar (for caramel)
2 cups whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
★Instructions
- Prepare the Caramel
Heat the sugar in a pan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts and turns into a golden-brown caramel.
Pour the caramel into a baking dish or individual ramekins, making sure it coats the bottom evenly.
- Prepare the Custard
In a bowl, whisk the eggs, then add the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.
- Combine
Pour the custard mixture over the caramel layer in the baking dish.
- Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Place the baking dish inside a larger pan filled with hot water (water bath).
Bake for about 45-60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool
Let the flan cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Serve
Run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it, then invert it onto a serving plate, allowing the caramel to drip over the top.
