Tater tot casserole with minced meat and cheese

★Ingredients

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella for extra cheesiness)

1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots

1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: fresh thyme for garnish

★Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until fully browned. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Season with salt and pepper.

Combine with Soup: Drain any excess fat from the beef mixture. Stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup until well combined.

Assemble the Casserole: Transfer the beef mixture to a greased casserole dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom.

Top with Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef mixture.

Layer Tater Tots: Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Garnish with fresh thyme (optional) and serve hot.
