Cheesy Ground Beef and Potato Casserole

  • Looking for a hearty and filling meal, this Ground Beef and Cheesy Potatoes dish is the perfect choice. With layers of tender potatoes, delicious ground beef and melted cheddar cheese, it’s an easy-to-make dish that brings comfort to any dinner table.

★Ingredients

1 pound (450 g) ground beef

4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 onion, chopped

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (optional)

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

½ cup milk

1 tablespoon butter or oil (for greasing the dish)

★Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or oil.
  • Cook the ground beef in a pan over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the beef is browned and onions are soft. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Prepare the potatoes by thinly slicing them. Layer half of the potatoes in the greased baking dish.
  • Layer the ingredients* Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes. Then, sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  • Repeat the layers* Add another layer of potatoes, the remaining beef mixture, and another cup of cheese.
  • Mix the soup and milk (if using the cream of mushroom soup) in a bowl. Pour this mixture evenly over the casserole.
  • Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
