1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional: pecans or walnuts)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
★Instructions
- Preheat Oven* Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the Filling*
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract.
- Toss everything together until the apples are evenly coated.
- Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Make the Topping*
- In another bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the melted butter over the mixture and stir until everything is well combined and crumbly.
- If using nuts, fold them into the topping mixture.
- Assemble the Crisp*
- Evenly sprinkle the topping mixture over the apples in the baking dish, covering them completely.
- Bake*
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly and tender.
