The recipe for the baked apple crisp

★Ingredients

For the Filling*

6 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping*

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional: pecans or walnuts)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

★Instructions

  • Preheat Oven* Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  • Prepare the Filling*
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract.
  • Toss everything together until the apples are evenly coated.
  • Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  • Make the Topping*
  • In another bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour the melted butter over the mixture and stir until everything is well combined and crumbly.
  • If using nuts, fold them into the topping mixture.
  • Assemble the Crisp*
  • Evenly sprinkle the topping mixture over the apples in the baking dish, covering them completely.
  • Bake*
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly and tender.
  • Cool and Serve*
  • Let the apple crisp cool slightly before serving. It’s perfect served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
